Introduction

Mavis DeLuna is the Moon Monarch of the Moon Palace, juggling leadership, ascending to godhood, and protecting the world. Born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, their life was as ordinary as it could get until discovering that they are an Empyrean: A mortal whose past life was that of a deity, and can ascend to godhood as a new deity in their current life. Despite putting a smile on their face and remaining strong for their friends, loved ones, and Lunar Subjects, Mavis feels a lot of pressure and weight on their shoulders.

As a person, Mavis is bubbly, funny, and a bit of a chaotic gremlin. Get on their good side or have them feel comfortable around you, and you'll not only have a hilarious and uplifting companion at your side, but a loyal and true friend. Her favorite Pokémon is Clefairy, and she loves the colors purple, blue, and pink in that order.

Abilities and Skills

Divine Aura • As an Empyrean, Mavis possesses a divine aura; this often pulls people in or makes others drawn to them without reasonable explanation. This also allows Mavis to sway people in their favor, if needed; however, she avoids using this power as she doesn't enjoy tampering with someone's free will.

Bilingual • Mavis speaks fluent English and Spanish, having grown up in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. She's also capable of learning other languages, and is in the process of doing so.

Siren Charm • Mermaids and Sirens are naturally flirtatious and have an ethereal charm to them that gives them an advantage in social situations. Their voices are capable of charming, hypnotizing, or impairing creatures that aren't immune to merfolk or magic created by sound.

Divine Divulgence • Mavis can see, hear, and speak to existing gods and withstand their mental pull. She is immune to any effects they may have with their auras, and usually isn't looked upon unfavorably; after all, in her past life, she was once a deity.

Glamour Magic • Mavis can use magic to alter or change her appearance to suit her comfort and gender presentation. This doesn't affect anything other than their outward appearance or how they are perceived. Despite this, their voice remains the same, as it's fairly androgynous.

Pattern Recognition • Mavis is autistic and picks up on patterns, changes, and other small details with relative ease. She's capable of instantly noticing change among her loved ones, ranging from moods to physical appearance.

  • ⚠️ Mavis is my persona, so their body type, colors, and other details DO matter and are important to me. Please don't draw them if you are unable to portray them accurately.   • ⚠️ Mavis's hair is red, not brown! This is a common mistake, which is understandable due to multiple factors. I use the color #450C10 as a base color for their hair in my art. (Don't forget the white stripe - it IS important to their story!)
  • ⚠️ Mavis is Two-Spirit, meaning they are trans. Please make sure you portray them respectfully and accurately: They are flat-chested in their Masculine form, while having bodacious boobs a large chest in Feminine form.
  • ⚠️ Please ask me first if you want to draw Mavis with characters outside of their story/lore! These instances will not be considered "canon," but I don't mind having fun. It's like playing Barbies, but with your OCs!
  • ✅ Drawing Mavis with their loved ones, their Pokémon, or their love interest is perfectly okay.

Design Notes


  • ✨ Mavis's initial outfit design was inspired by Princess Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Lisa from Genshin Impact.
  • ✨ Her hairstyle and story were inspired by Sailor Moon. Usagi Tsukino was my childhood hero, and I loved everything about her; I wanted to make a character that was clearly inspired by Sailor Moon, all while making it my own.
  • ✨ Mavis was initially designed as only feminine, but still non-binary. This eventually changed: they were given a masculine form after I discovered I am Genderfluid!
  • ✨ Mavis was first conceptualized as a DELTARUNE fan character. Over time, I eventually began giving them their own story and universe, leading to where they are now.

Pernelius "Pern" Valerian

Spouse, Divine Consort

When Pern met Mavis for the first time, the two of them experienced Divine Connection: Two Empyreans seeing each other at their truest in a different plane of existence. Mavis saw the hurt and pain that Pern was hiding, and offered him their shoulder to lean on. The two Empyreans talked and became acquainted over time, and Pern fell in love with Mavis as a result. When he abdicated from his throne, he married Mavis, choosing to become their Monarch Consort.

Sebastian Reyes

Childhood Friend

Like Cosmo, Sebastian has been a constant presence in Mavis's life since their youth. Mavis sees him as an older brother, adopted into the family due to him being around so much - it was made official when Mavis and Cosmo's grandmother agreed. Sebastian has been alive for much longer than a human lifespan, all due to the Upheaval turning his family into demons. Mavis helps him feel young and secure with his agelessness every now and again.

Cosmo DeLuna

Older Brother

Cosmo and Mavis have always been together, inseparable since youth. While Cosmo is a bit older than Mavis, it's not by much - and they get along well. Protective of his younger sibling to his own detriment, Cosmo is willing to fight tooth and nail if it means keeping Mavis safe and protecting them from getting hurt - including emotionally. Unlike Mavis, Cosmo is more adaptable, while Mavis is stubborn. The two balance each other out, as siblings do.

Dunerigus "Dune" Valerian

Friend, Brother-in-Law

Dune arrived at the Moon Palace out of nowhere, shocking Mavis, Cosmo, and Sebastian. They enthusiastically welcomed him in, as he was the Palace's first ever guest. He soon developed strong friendships with the three of them, and began tutoring Mavis to polish her magic skills. Additionally, if it weren't for Dune, Mavis and Pern wouldn't have met. Pern pursued Dune after he ran, following his brother's trail left behind by magic energy, and eventually found him in the Moon Palace.
